Giving Mom More Options

At Joielle, we carry a line of "Mother of the Bride" dresses, also referred to as Social Occasion dresses, which are traditionally more appropriate for older women.

Mothers are increasingly fashion-conscious and dressing "younger" than previous generations. I am always tickled when I see a mother-daughter pairing at the mall wearing clothes that could have come from the same wardrobe. It's nice that we are moving away from dowdy clothes of the past and putting more effort into options that can be trendy but still age-appropriate.

We see it reflected in our customers as well, with quite a few mothers ordering a dress from one of our bridesmaid lines. Sara, a mother of the groom, recently shared this wedding photo with us from her son's August wedding. She is wearing Alfred Sung's stylish Dupioni Ruffle Neckline Dress, Style D461, in Daisy dupioni, and told us that she got plenty of compliments on the dress. We think she looks fabulous!

We'd also like to remind our customers that colors shown on our site are not necessarily exactly what they look like in person. This is in part because computer monitors vary, but it is also affected by indoor or outdoor lighting. For instance, Sara's dress color Daisy is actually an extremely bright yellow, which we have tried to portray on our website, but as you can see in the photo, it looks like a softer warm yellow outdoors. So we strongly encourage our shoppers to buy swatches if they have not yet seen the colors in person to make sure there are no surprises. Since these dresses are made to order, the manufacturers do not allow returns or exchanges, and we strive to do everything we can to make your purchase a well-informed one.
