Pick of the Week: Dessy Collection Charmeuse Dress with Pleated Bodice and Side Bow

Hope everyone is having a restful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends!

Today's pick of the week is this gorgeous charmeuse full-length gown, Dessy Collection's Style 2795. Charmeuse is a luxurious fabric that is softer than satin and has a supple feel and shine. The strapless cut with empire waist bow is a classic style that will stand the test of time, unlike those puffy sleeve dresses from the 80's. I suppose the pouf sleeve trend is back recently, but hopefully not for bridesmaid dresses!

The dress grabbed our attention during our Spring 2010 photo shoot and it's been a favorite ever since. Here's a blast from the past of our model posing in the Beaux-Arts style Hoboken terminal, which by the way, is a great place to take engagement or wedding photos if you live in the area.

Our "Pick of the Week" offers begin every Friday morning and run until the following Thursday 4pm EST. Use checkout code POTW for the 10% discount. Follow our blog, facebook page or twitter to get weekly alerts!

New Return Policy for Accessories over $100

Julie and I put careful thought into hand-picking the beautiful accessories on our site and will be adding a few more unique pieces in the coming weeks. As much as we try to help our customers make a well-informed decision with high resolution photos and detailed descriptions, we understand that it can still be hard to envision how the accessory will look if it's not in hand. So we have decided to implement a new return policy that applies to in stock accessories priced over $100. We hope that it will put your mind at ease if you're not quite sure the accessory will work with your wedding dress or particular outfit. We're also confident that if you buy one of these gorgeous products, you'll probably want to keep it!

Pearl Cluster Headband, Crystal Organza Headband, Satin Flower Haircomb

For in stock accessories (which ship in 1-3 business days) that cost over $100, we allow a 10 day evaluation period after you receive the product. Should you decide to return the item, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee of the purchase price. To process your return, contact us for an RMA number. We can either email you a FedEx shipping label and deduct the return shipping fee from your refund, or you may ship it back at your own expense using a trackable method (e.g. FedEx or UPS Ground). If the item is not returned in original condition or postmarked past the 10 day evaluation period, you will be subject to the cost of the entire item.

For our full return policy and other frequently asked questions, please refer to our Customer Service page.

Pick of the Week: Cynthia Rowley's One-Shoulder Blouson Dress

Today's pick of the week highlights two trends that are still going strong, the one-shoulder style and the blouson bodice. Put together on this Cynthia Rowley dress and topped with a satin bow, it's perfect for a chic but relaxed evening wedding. We also envision this dress as a great outfit for an elegant night out on the town, whether it's attending the ballet or a museum cocktail party. You'll look like you got dolled up, but didn't try too hard!

Sneak Peek for Spring 2011

Julie and I had another fun-filled photo shoot this past Saturday with a plethora of beautiful Spring 2011 dresses.

There will be quite a few new colors being added to the Dessy palette. They are bringing in more pinks and purples, and highlighting neutrals like gray and beige. Of course the great thing about made-to-order bridesmaid dresses is that it doesn't matter what the current trend is. You can still order your dresses in whatever color you want!

It looks like the styles themselves are not changing too dramatically. There will still be plenty of strapless, with a few boatneck, halter and v-necks thrown in. Many of the dresses will include the option of skinny belts with buckles or flower accents. One dress that really stood out to us during the shoot was this elegant gown from Dessy Collection. Even our photographer who doesn't usually voice his opinion picked it out as a favorite.

We can't wait to put up the new styles on our site in a few weeks!

Real Weddings: Angela and Sam

A tented wedding behind a mansion was always my idea of a dream wedding, so I am really excited that Angela and Sam sent us photos of their special day.

Their bridesmaids wore Dessy Collection's Style 2749 in African Violet. The full-length satin gowns have a sweetheart neckline and a luxurious asymmetrical mermaid skirt. Sam also ordered the matching Dessy ties for his groomsmen. Angela happily reported that "Everyone said they were the most beautiful dresses they've ever seen, and all my bridesmaids loved them! The bright african violet color really popped against the elegant white and silver of the rest of our wedding decor. It was such a flattering color for everyone."

The ceremony took place outside in the Pegasus Garden at Meadow Brook Hall, a Tudor-style mansion in Rochester, Michigan. What a gorgeous setting!

When asked about special memories on their wedding day, the bride and groom had trouble choosing just one. Just as the ceremony was ending, there was a sprinkling of raindrops for good luck! Later on, the sun peeked out during dinner, casting a beautiful rainbow over the tent. Angela said it was "the coolest thing ever and felt like it was meant to be". Congrats Angela and Sam! We hope there will be many more magical moments in your life together.

Introducing our first "Pick of the Week"

Starting today, we are offering 10% off a featured "Pick of the Week" every Friday morning. Why you ask? Because there are so many dresses that we love, and we want to give them their moment in the sun. More importantly, we want to highlight styles that are not your typical bridesmaid dress that could be perfect for your next wedding, party or special event!

To kick things off, this week's pick is the dress that our lovely model Maria is wearing on our homepage, Dessy Collection's Satin Dress with Ruffle Bodice.

We love this dress because as we've blogged about before, ruffles continue to be a hot trend in fashion. Pencil skirts are also increasingly popular, making this silhouette versatile for work and fun. Pair it with a short suit jacket for business formal wear, or drape on a pashmina and you're ready to attend your next wedding!

Our "Pick of the Week" offers begin every Friday morning and run until the following Thursday 4pm EST. Use checkout code POTW. Follow our blog, facebook page or twitter to get weekly alerts!

The More the Merrier: Joielle's 10% Bridal Party Discount

Is it just me, or are bridal parties a lot bigger than they used to be? Not that I have a point of reference to compare from 20 years ago, but I think it would be easy to understand why. It's increasingly common to include more family members in the party such as sisters, brothers, mothers, cousins, and nieces. And as the average marrying age trends a little older, there's more time to build close relationships. There's your childhood best friend, your high school tight-knit group of buddies, your college girlfriends, your roommate when you moved to the city for your first job, and the list goes on and on.

For brides who want to cover the cost of dresses as a gift to their bridesmaids, having more bridesmaids means more money! And for those super helpful girlfriends that always get asked to be a bridesmaid, the cost of being in a wedding can be burdensome too. That's why we try to make things a little easier by providing 10% off for bridal parties of 4 or more.

Here's how our bridal party discount works.

1. You send an email to us at info@shopjoielle.com with the following:
- Your name and wedding date
- The names of all the girls who will be making orders
- The dress styles if you have already made that decision
- The time-frame of when the girls will place their orders (We usually set the code to expire after 2 weeks, but we can extend that at your request)

2. We email you back a unique discount code that you can share with your girls to use upon checkout. All girls place their own orders with the same code.

3. We hold the orders until everyone has made their purchase. Then we submit it to the manufacturer together so the dresses are cut from the same fabric dye lot. Your bridesmaids will receive a confirmation email with the actual estimated ship date.

4. Once we receive the dresses, we ship them directly to the bridesmaids. Some brides prefer having all the dresses shipped to one location, i.e. their own home, even if the bridesmaids place their own orders. Some brides order all the dresses themselves in one purchase. It's all possible, just let us know how you want to do things.

And as the bride, you get 10% off everything on our site! Browse our store for jewelry, a rehearsal dinner dress, or gifts for your bridesmaids. We'll be adding more accessories and other fun items in the coming months, so keep an eye out for posts about new products!
