When Will I Get My Dress?

Ordering a bridesmaid dress is a different shopping experience than what most of us are used to. Rather than running into a store and coming out with a shopping bag, you place your order for style #, color, and size, then wait weeks, even months, before it finally arrives. For those who are unaware of this drawn-out process, it can be an unpleasant surprise when you realize how close you are cutting it even if you are still 3 months away from the wedding date. Luckily, our designers offer rush and super rush options that can accommodate most requests.

To help give as much clarity as possible to this process, we have made some modifications to our Shipping & Delivery page.

First of all, notice the addition of a FedEx Ground Delivery Map! The map shows the number of business days that your package will be in transit before it is delivered to your door. This time is additional to the estimated ship date. So for you West Coasters, that means tacking on almost an extra week en route. We try our best to check your shipping address against your wear date to make sure that you have built sufficient time to receive your dress and get alterations done if necessary. And if you would like expedited shipping to get your dress earlier, you can always contact us to make alternative arrangements.

Secondly, we have provided a more thorough explanation for the process of producing your dress or accessory. Each designer provides us with an estimated production time chart, which is posted on our page, but that is just a general estimate. We can only give you an exact time of shipping after we submit your order to the manufacturer and they confirm a delivery date with us. The exception is our Dessy Group dresses, which have real-time shipping estimates provided on their product page delivery dropdown menus. These estimated shipping dates move 1 week forward every Thursday at 4pm.

We understand that planning a wedding and being part of a wedding has a lot of responsibilities, and we hope that our site is informative and helpful to make life easier for everyone. Real Weddings: Lauren and Andrew

One thing that Julie and I really enjoy about running Joielle is that despite not being a brick and mortar store, we still have plenty of e-communication with our customers. We especially love helping our brides and doing everything we can to make their lives easier as they go through what is often an extremely stressful time!

As we continue to expand our blog, we are asking our customers to share photos from their weddings. We hope that the photos are helpful to our future shoppers to see how the different styles of dresses look on bridesmaids, and also a fun glimpse into the unique look and feel of each wedding.

Lauren & Andrew were married at the Winter Park Farmers Market in Florida. Their bridesmaids wore the Alfred Sung scoopneck dress, D447, in black dupioni.

Lauren shared with us that her favorite part of wedding planning was the catering tastings and trying on wedding dresses, and the best part of her wedding day was when the ceremony was over and the party got started! We love the black and white theme in a rustic setting, with plenty of greenery as a natural color accent. Congrats Lauren and Andrew!

Having swatches is great, not only in helping you decide on bridesmaid dresses and color scheme for your wedding, but also for the rest of your planning, such as showing the color to your florist or matching your invitations. We've also added some new fabrics which are part of the Lela Rose line, so here's a quick introduction.

Faille















Faille is a tightly woven mixture of silk and cotton with a faint ribbed pattern and textured feel. The look is both relaxed and upscale. The stiffer fabric is an incredibly versatile material that can be worn day or night time all year round.

Crinkle Chiffon
















This material has the same construction as regular chiffon. What is special about crinkle chiffon is its delicate flat-crepe texture, which has a soft finish to its signature crinkly stiffness. The fabric is slightly translucent but still a very durable fabric.

Gauze















Dessy's gauze fabric is a unique blend of silk and wool, giving it a luxurious and elegant look. It is lightweight, with delicate fibers woven together to create a refined open-textured pattern. It has a comfortable feel and soft draping.

On the Wire

I remember when Julie and I were both planning our weddings, we depended heavily on blogs and forums to recommend local florists, DJ's, photographers, hair stylists, etc. A bride might post that she had a fabulous experience with a particular vendor, but if no one else echoed that sentiment, it was a little nerve-wrecking to base your decision on a singular opinion.

WeddingWire is trying to change all that. They have created an entire network of vendor listings that is populated on major wedding sites such as weddingbee and Martha Stewart Weddings. Vendors can post information about themselves, and their customers can write reviews! Listing with the site is free, so any vendor can get the word out about their services.
