Pick of the Week: After Six Sweetheart Chiffon Dress with Draped Bodice

Today's pick of the week is After Six's Style 6574. The sweetheart neckline and soft pleating at the waist is flattering and ultra feminine. A classic and understated silhouette, this dress provides the perfect base to add accessories to make it your own. You can wear a long multi-strand necklace, dangly earrings, or keep your neck area clean and simple and rock some thick bangles instead.

With summer weddings coming up, you know nothing's worse than feeling sticky and hot, so chiffon is the perfect fabric to stay cool. I just got a save-the-date this week for a friend's June wedding in Newport, RI, and I think this dress will have to be a contender!

Pick of the Week: Georgette Cocktail Dress with Satin Belt and Flower

Today's pick of the week is Style 2800 from the Dessy Collection line. Made of nu-georgette fabric, this Fortuny pleated dress is sure to garner plenty of compliments! The hand-worked flower is an exquisite touch, and pairing it with large semi-precious stone earrings will have you stepping out like a true fashionista.

And what is Fortuny pleating you ask? Well, I was curious myself, and it turns out that it is named after a designer named Mariano Fortuny from the early 1900's who invented the unique way to make crisp pleats in silk fabric. You may have also seen this type of pleating in scarves and Stella McCartney's maxi dresses.

Real Weddings: Rachael's bridal party

For those who had Martin Luther King Jr. Day off yesterday, wasn't it nice to have a long weekend even though the holidays just passed? It is definitely one of those, "need a vacation after the vacation" type of feelings.

Today we are happy to share some photos from Rachael, another Washington DC bride who was married this past October. It's nice that even in the late fall, it was warm enough to have an outdoor ceremony!

Rachael's bridesmaids wore mixed styles of the popular Alfred Sung line in dupioni fabric and the color Midnight. The bridesmaids' different gold necklaces and flats also added individuality to their outfits.

Alfred Sung D442, D445, D443, D447

We love Rachael's unique wedding dress with a sweetheart bodice and a fully beaded ballgown skirt, minimally styled with a chunky gold bracelet.

Coincidentally, one of the bridesmaids just got engaged and chose a different Alfred Sung style for her wedding, so now it's Rachael's turn to be a bridesmaid!

Thanks Rachael for sharing your special day with us. We hope you and your husband are blissfully enjoying married life!

Pick of the Week: Cynthia Rowley's Full-Skirted Cotton Sateen Dress

Today's pick of the week is a dress with style that doesn't sacrifice comfort. Cynthia Rowley's Style 8009 is a strapless dress with a full skirt and yes, the ever important hidden pockets in the side seams. The sash can be tied in the the front or the back. We love Dessy's cotton sateen, which is a low in maintence and high in quality. Tightly woven, the fabric is durable and gives off a subtle sheen.

Pair this dress with a cardigan and you're good to go for your friend's bridal shower or backyard house party. Dress it up with a wrap and a chunky jeweled necklace for the next wedding you're attending. The possibilities are endless!

Pick of the Week: Ruffle Halter Dress with Pockets

Our Ruffle Neckline Dress has been a best-seller on our site for months now, so it's no surprise that Alfred Sung released a variation of the style for its Spring 2011 Collection, Ruffle Neckline 2.0 if you will. The new style has hit the ground running, so we've chosen it as today's pick of the week!

The Ruffle Halter Dress with Pockets, Alfred Sung D470, still maintains a similar bodice with its eye-catching neckline and flat bow. However, the skirt has been changed to a full style with pockets. And the real kicker? A halter neckline with a dramatic sexy open back. It's the perfect choice for your friend's upcoming summer wedding. Yes, I said summer. It's definitely not too early to start thinking about what to wear already!

New Year, New Styles

Happy 2011! As we ring in the new year, we are continuing to add new Spring 2011 products to our site.

Today we'd like to highlight our newest designer, Ansonia. We met them at Bridal Market last October and were immediately drawn to their unique and beautiful (not to mention very affordable) products.

We were especially enamored by the three-strand pearl necklace. It really gives the wow factor that some brides are looking for when they pick a more simple dress and want a defining accessory to pop.

And here are some of our favorites from Landa Designs' new line. These full-length chiffon dresses are the perfect styles for spring time and the blue cocktail dress is a classy v-neck option. Check them out!
