Will you be my bridesmaid?

We're now well into wedding season, but let's not forget the flurry of engagements that have been happening too! There always seems to be a peak in the summer, perhaps weddings get people in the mood, then a mad rush during the holiday season at the end of the year for all those procrastinating boyfriends (my husband included!).

Once you are engaged, the questions immediately start pouring in. When is the wedding date? Where are you getting married? Who will be in your wedding party? Even though picking your bridal party can be a difficult decision, asking them to be your bridesmaid can be creative and fun! We discovered these adorable bridesmaid doll cards at the National Stationary Show and couldn't wait to add them to our site.

The cards are created by Riya and Darin of Blue Lotus Company, a twin sister team who started as a custom design business but decided to foray into everyday stationary and gift products. Choose from four different dolls, which all have the "Why I would love to have you as my bridesmaid" note to fill in on the back!

We are continuing to expand our "Cards and Gifts" section and will be introducing a new designer later this summer. Stay tuned!

Real Weddings: Lisa and Tom

Earlier this year, I shared about coordinating my friends Lisa and Tom's wedding at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas. Here are the gorgeous pictures from them to share with you all!

The bridesmaids wore a classic Landa Designs dress, Style M691 in Eggplant with a Chocolate sash. It was the perfect choice for a more formal southern wedding.

Lisa enjoyed planning her wedding, and it really showed! She created many DIY projects such as the aisle pomanders and framed her and Tom's parents' wedding photos. For the reception, she varied the table centerpieces with a mix of cupcake stands and purple orchid plants.

"I consider myself a very detail-oriented person, so I really enjoyed thinking about little things, like what to get for wedding favors, what type of candy to use for the candy buffet, etc..."

For the first dance, Lisa's friend sang "Feels like Home" by Chantal Kravitz with another friend playing the piano. It was her favorite moment at the wedding.

Lisa also changed up her look for the reception by adding a custom-ordered Landa Designs purple sash that matched the bridesmaid dresses.

Although the whole night was fun and memorable, Lisa especially loved how much fun her parents were having and seeing her friends dance with them. I have to say personally that this wedding was definitely the longest that I ever stayed out on the dance floor!

Congrats Lisa and Tom! May you continue to create beautiful memories together in your marriage and enjoy life's celebrations with family and friends.

Real Weddings: Becca and Justin

I hope everyone enjoyed their July 4th weekend! On the heels of celebrating our country's freedom, we're featuring a wedding from Washington DC. Becca and Justin were married at the Hotel Monaco, a boutique hotel in a national historic landmark building.

When asked for a favorite moment from the wedding, Becca said that it was impossible to pick one!

"The whole day was full of incredibly special people and memories - I only wish it hadn't gone by so fast!"

The bridesmaids wore mixed styles and colors from the Alfred Sung line using Midnight, Caspian and Niagara.

There were also some very special heirloom pieces in the wedding. Justin's pocket watch was passed down from his great grandfather, and Becca's antique veil was made in the 1800's and worn by her mother and aunt.

And I couldn't resist sharing this adorable shot of the bride and groom with their doggies.

Congrats Becca and Justin, thank you for sharing your lovely wedding with us. We wish you all the best!
