Real Weddings: Jillian and Lucas

No matter what time of year, soft color palettes are as popular as ever, especially neutral grays and blushes. Today we're featuring Jillian and Lucas' fall wedding which took place in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Trinity Lutheran Church followed by a reception at CityScape Events.

Jillian thoroughly enjoyed wedding planning, putting years of dream wedding visions into reality and incorporating the Air Force since Lucas is a pilot in the USAF. Her favorite part of the wedding day was seeing Lucas for the first time. She had been nervous and anxious all morning but her worries washed away the moment she saw him and his smile. She was also relieved that he liked her dress!

Jillian's Matron of Honor Katie was a past Joielle bride whose wedding was featured on our blog last year. We love hearing from bridesmaids again when it's time to pick dresses for their own wedding!

Jillian's bridesmaids wore After Six by Dessy empire waist chiffon dresses in Platinum.

"Working with Joielle was a dream. Everyone was so accommodating for my 8 bridesmaids, who live all over the United States. All of the dresses arrived in a timely fashion which allowed time for alterations for my girls. They did an awesome job!"

One of Jillian's most memorable moments was when Lucas danced with his mother, who has Multiple Sclerosis and has been in a wheelchair for about 10 years.

"She knew she only has one mother-son wedding dance in a lifetime and agreed to share a dance with Lucas. He lifted her out of her chair to stand and they "danced" with one another. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. It was a beautiful moment that no one will forget."

What a touching memory to cherish. Wishing your whole family many years full of joy and love!

Last Call to Order Discontinued Dessy Styles!

This week, Dessy will be discontinuing many of their older styles, including their entire Cotton Voile, Chiffon, Gauze, and Silk Shantung fabric lines. The old Chiffon is now completely replaced by Lux Chiffon, which is a softer and tighter woven fabric, and it does live up to its name of being more luxurious!

We're sad to see some of the perennial favorites go, such as Style 2823,  Shirred Sweetheart Cotton Voile Dress with Pockets, shown below in Midnight, and Style 2804,  Draped Bodice Strapless Gown, shown in Flame, but Dessy is making room for some wonderful new Spring 2013 styles which we will be unveiling in just a few short weeks.

If your heart is set on any of the discontinued styles, you still have until this Thursday 4:00pm EST to place your order, and Dessy will put your dresses into production. So don't delay!

Real Weddings: Erin and Keith

Today we're showcasing Erin and Keith's wedding, which took place this past spring just a hop, skip and a jump away from us at Liberty House Restaurant located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.

Unfortunately, Liberty State Park was severely hit by Hurricane Sandy and the clean up and repairs are estimated to take months. We hope things get back to normal soon, especially since it is a very special place for New Jersey, taking tourists to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and a great wedding venue with breathtaking views of the Hudson River and lower Manhattan.

Erin's bridesmaids wore After Six by Dessy Style 6574 in Cornflower Chiffon. The crisp light blue is a striking shade for both outside and indoors.

This best-selling dress style is actually being discontinued by Dessy next week because they are phasing out their Chiffon fabric for their newer Lux Chiffon, so you'll have to act fast if you're considering it for your bridal party!

The groomsmen also wore matching Cornflower satin vests, ties and pocket squares from the Dessy Mens accessories line.

Erin shared that she and Keith loved celebrating with friends and family and their favorite part of the wedding was after all the formalities were over and they could just dance and have fun.

Congrats Erin and Keith! Best wishes to you and to everyone this Thanksgiving holiday!

Real Weddings: Joanne and Drew

Today we're featuring Joanne and Drew's vibrant fall wedding which took place just around this time last year in Highland Park, IL at Ravinia Park, also home to an annual music festival and the perfect setting for a couple who loves music and art.

When it came to putting together her bridal party, Joanne said she always knew that she would have her three older sisters as her bridesmaids. They had so much fun getting ready before the wedding together and dancing all night long. The girls wore Landa Designs' Style M768 in Laguna Blue.

"Deciding on bridesmaids dresses was the most difficult part of wedding planning for some reason. I kept getting hung up on the decision and search all over to find something great. I knew I wanted to find a halter style to match my wedding dress, and it was so nice to shop by style on the Joielle site. Joielle also mailed several swatches to me because I couldn't decide on a color. The whole ordering process was easy for my sisters and the dresses looked great! Just look how they pop in the photos. I was really happy with how it turned out."

Joanne's favorite moment was the Ketubah signing before their ceremony. Drew designed the Ketubah, combining Joanne's request for a tree with his own whimsical twist and play on words!

The favorite part of wedding planning for Joanne was taking dance lessons. They must have been naturals because everyone thought their dance was choreographed even though they were just winging it with steps they learned.

Congrats Joanne and Drew. May a joyful melody continue throughout your marriage!

Real Weddings: Jane and Andy

Today's real wedding is brimming with unique elements that seamlessly mixed fun and elegance, not an easy thing to do! Jane and Andy were married this past July at Fess Parker Winery, Los Olivos, California, in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and tented reception. Carefully selected rustic, vintage and romantic touches all came together perfectly.

For her bridesmaid dresses, Jane decided to mix and match different styles and colors in a blue, gray and tan color palette. She made a mock line-up of the dress images ahead of time to envision the overall look.

After Six 6613 Midnight, After Six 6639 Platinum, Landa Designs M656 Sand, Landa Designs M656 Navy, Dessy 2831 Platinum

As someone whose husband follows pro wrestling, I got a good laugh out of the photo props for the groomsmen. And how adorable are these oversized balloons?!

Congrats Jane and Andy! May your marriage always exude the joy and creativity that was so lovingly shown through your special day.

Real Weddings: Andrea and Zac

Andrea & Zac were married in Seattle, WA, at The Hall at Fauntleroy. The name of the venue sounded so familiar to me, and I realized that my cousin's wedding reception was at the same place 7 years ago!

The best part of planning for Andrea was working with some of the "favorite women" in her life, her mom, sister and bridesmaids. She also said that her dad and husband pitched in for many important details as well.

Andrea's bridesmaids wore lux chiffon After Six Style 6611 and Dessy Collection Style 2834 in the color African Violet. The ruffled one shoulder gown continues to be one of our most popular choices by bridal parties.

"My sister and I loved working with Joielle because they were easy to work with and made ordering dresses less of a stressful To-Do! When the dresses arrived, there was a sweet note included which was just the icing on the cake!"

When asked about her favorite moment from the wedding day, Andrea said choosing just one was nearly impossible, but if she had to narrow it down, she would have to say the Father/Daughter dance and playing the Newlywed Game.

Congrats Andrea and Zac! May you continue to collect many more precious memories together as husband and wife.
